Overview
The Apatosaurus is a playable herbivorous creature in Beasts of Bermuda, as well as the largest playable creature. Being big, however, requires a big appetite, and so the Apatosaurus must consume at a very frequent rate. Fortunately, it's not a picky eater: Its diet consists of almost any kind of plant, and it can even consume trees as an adult. It also must drink copious amounts of water, and this sometimes causes it to sip entire ponds dry!

Thanks to its immense bulk, the Apatosaurus has superb resistance to harsh weather and boasts the highest amount of HP in the game, as well as being able to attack from any angle with incredible knockback and damage, making it very difficult to for any predator to kill. This discourages many predators from attacking it in the first place, letting the Apatosaurus live a generally peaceful and undisturbed adult life... if it can reach adulthood, that is.

Abilities
Unique Attributes: The Apatosaurus can deal knockback to creatures simply by walking into them. Additionally, it can walk backwards by crouching.

* Neck Swipe
** Default: LMB (Left Mouse Button)
** A neck swipe that damages anything in front of it. Costs a moderate amount of ability power.

* Tail Whip
** Default: RMB (Right Mouse Button)
** A fast and powerful tail whip attack, dealing high damage with little ability power cost. Press the attack once to instantly whip in a direction, or hold the attack to coil up the Apatosaurus' tail, which has better accuracy when released. The ability power cost increases over time if the attack is held down.

* Stomp
** Default: Z (Ability Key)
** Rear up on the hind legs, then after a delay, stomps the ground to deal humongous damage and injury. Costs a very high amount of ability power.

Survival Tips
* Carefully manage your ability power during fights. Enemies will often attempt to waste away the Apatosaurus' ability power by faking an attack.

* The Apatosaurus' strongest attack is its Tail Whip. It is recommended to face your tail against your opponents to prevent them from reaching the rest of your body.

* Standing in deep water with your body just above the surface is a good defensive position, as it forces opponents to enter the water to attack.

* The Apatosaurus's tail whip attack can be very effective for attacking or defending against any hidden aquatic creatures that may be lurking in a lake. Simply walk backward into a lake and snap your tail to see if you can hit any hidden predators that may be lurking just below.

Additional Notes
* Implementation of the tail-whip mechanic was claimed to be one of the most difficult mechanics to program, second only to Oryctodromeus' burrows.

What is Beasts of Bermuda?
Beasts of Bermuda is a survival game in which you play as a prehistoric creature native to the mysterious islands of Bermuda: a tropical ecosystem absent from human contact. With its propensity to storms and shifting tides, Bermuda is an ever-changing ecosystem.
Choose from up to 15 of the currently available creatures, and battle your way through the severity of hunger, thirst, stress, and predation, all of which are aspects that pose as constant threats to your survival. Play as whichever creature suits you the best, be it an herbivore, a carnivore, a marine, or a flyer, and learn to thrive on the islands of Bermuda.

The game is currently under development and was first released on December 21st, 2018 as a primarily multiplayer server experience. Check out its Steam page here!

What do Beasts of Bermuda have to offer?
Beasts of Bermuda offers the experience of playing in unique niches as an aquatic, flying, or terrestrial creature. Certain creatures specialize in unique gameplay. For instance, semiaquatics offer a lifestyle that is different from traditional carnivores and marines, as they are both adept at swimming and running.

The game also has unique map elements. Whether you're seeking a cave to shelter from a storm, waiting for the tide to drop to walk safely to a new island, or migrating to avoid a forest fire or a depleted water source, the map is always changing around you and feeling alive.

The playable creatures in Beasts of Bermuda all have their own unique abilities. Some can grab their prey, others can pounce large distances, and some can even climb up walls. Every animal is different in Beasts of Bermuda, and a lot of effort has been put into making the mechanics unique and enjoyable.

Comfort is a unique mechanic that determines how healthy your creature is. At its highest peak, a creature can grow well, but at its lowest, a creature becomes stressed and can die. Stress can be caused by (but is not limited to) over-eating, staying near ungrouped creatures, and exposure to harsh storms.

Beasts of Bermuda give players free reign over how they look. Skins are completely customizable, allowing the user a free range of color choices, whether it be for camouflage or dazzle. Additionally, the talents mechanic allows players to choose their creature's specialties and spend points in different kinds of playstyles, such as extra health or speed.

Breeding is also an available mechanic; offspring will receive a mixture of their parents' corresponding skins and colors, as well as occasionally sporting mutations of the leucistic, melanistic, and wildcard varieties. Offspring will receive inherits based on their parents' talent trees.

Many different challenges are always present in Beasts of Bermuda. One must find food and quench their thirst in the ever-changing environment. Different animals have different means of obtaining food. Some are carnivores who need to hunt and eat their fellow players to survive. Others are herbivores, and thus have more peaceful means of eating. Piscivores are capable of eating both other players and fish. Along with the necessities of day-to-day survival, mother nature is always at your heels with its unpredictable weather that keeps the game interesting to play.

Current Gamemodes

* Life-cycle - This is the nominal game mode, and by far the most popular. The player begins as a juvenile of any species and grows over time, becoming more powerful the bigger they get. Eventually, accompanying model changes will differentiate younger members from their older counterparts. This mode is coupled with a talent or point-based system, in which the player becomes more powerful in the skills they choose. An additional aspect of this game mode is the work-in-progress Trial System.

* Combat - This game mode involves constant battling. Players will spawn as adult creatures and can kill other players to gain ever-increasing points. When you die, a percentage of your points are transferred to your killer.

* Free Roam - In this game mode, the player can select any creature to play without the cost of punishment for death. This mode offers a relaxed atmosphere in which the player can do as they wish. Players tend to join this game mode to socialize, explore, or fight.

Regardless of the selected mode of play, settings may differ from server to server based on the owner's preferences.

Where are Beasts of Bermuda in its development?
Beasts of Bermuda began development on January 16th, 2017. Currently, the game offers a fully functional game world with many combat mechanics and map-based survival elements already in place. Make no mistake, our game is still pre-release and very much under development. Future development will likely focus on expanding the playable creature roster, improving the quality of the graphics, models, general assets, and then implementing additional game modes.

The game was released on Dec 21st, 2018 on the game's steam page. Within their steam page are the game's patch notes where you can read in detail what new mechanics have been implemented. However, the best way to keep up with development is to join the official Beasts of Bermuda discord (https://discord.gg/jYaRG5X), where you can ask the developers in the appropriate channels about the current build of the game. Here is also a file for the old Beasts of Bermuda demo if anyone is interested

There is a chance that the following creatures will be playable due to the interest of the developers in expanding the niches available to players in Beasts of Bermuda. Many of these animals are selected due to their unique niches or ability to utilize certain gameplay mechanics. Many are piscivores, aquatics, flyers, or semiaquatic creatures.
Discussed creatures are animals that have been discussed to be added, but have not been confirmed and are less likely to be added. The developers hope to have at least two creatures of every "type" added to the game. With the proper resources, some of these creatures may be added.

Where the words (one of) appear, only one creature of that group will be added.
Why do Beasts of Bermuda need Donations?
Beasts of Bermuda needs funds to commission and contract professionals for services related to modeling, animating, sound design, skin design, level design, and overall improvements to the game. Up to this point, the game has been worked on by Predatoria and Vipe, two indie developers focused on the coding behind the game, with freelance contributions from several contributors. Most of our current models are from asset stores, and we want to replace them with professional models. To bring our game to the next level of quality, we need to network with professionals in all departments of game design rather than just indefinitely coding more mechanics into the game, which requires funding neither of us can afford to do.

Donations are not open at this moment.

FAQ
* What platforms will Beasts of Bermuda be available on?

* Tapejara
* Zupaysaurus

FAQ
