Overview
+
Tropeognathus is the second flying creature to be confirmed, after Pteranodon.
Tropeognathus is a large pterosaur, specializing in defensive play. A creature with an 8-meter-long wingspan, it almost seems as if such a monster should hardly be able to get airborne. It grows at the speed of Megalosaurus, and with several unique mechanics to assert its dominance, Tropeognathus is sure to be a rival to any lightning-quick Pteranodon that may try to challenge it! Despite the imposing stature, its diet consists mainly of fish.

Tropeognathus Mechanics
+
As the largest and most powerful of the fish eating Pterosaurs in Beasts of Bermuda, Tropeognathus is able to use its huge wingspan to stay airborne for long periods of time, even during all but the harshest of storms. Its large wings also allow it to be a very effective swimmer and can repel and even injure other fliers who come too close, but this size comes at a cost; it requires a large amount of stamina to take off, especially from the water, and is slow and ungainly on the land. As a piscivore, it is unsuited to combat and inflicts very little damage. Tropeognathus also benefits from being in a mated pair much like an albatross or bald eagle, gaining a mild boost to a few important stats when in proximity. It will be the 'king of the skies'.

Abilities
+
The model is WIP for this creature, and cannot be shown at this time.
Wing Beat

-To use Wing Beat, press the Ability key while facing another player (it can’t hit behind you)

-It can be used while in flight, or while on the ground

-If it hits another player, both you and them will be knocked back. It deals significant injury and moderate damage to the hit player

-Just like Spiky Shield, successive uses of Wing Beat now get 35% more expensive until its DR wears off, after 30 seconds. This will also reduce the damage and knockback

-It is improved by the Deadly Wings talent

Master of the Skies

-Baseline weather resistance is equivalent to 3/3

Unique Talents
+
This creature has started animations!!
Strong Bond

-This talent is only in the Tropeognathus tree, as a survival Tier 3 talent.

-While grouped and close to your mate, you and your mate both receive a large boost to your max HP, Stamina, and Ability

-If both the mated Tropeognathus have the talent, it stacks additively between the two

-It increases with the (in-game) friendship level between you

Deadly Wings

-This talent is only in the Tropeognathus tree, on the bridge between the Power and Survival trees

-This talent improves how much damage and injury Wing Beat inflicts

Swift Wings

-This talent is only in the Tropeognathus tree, on the bridge between Mobility and Survival

-This talent reduces the cooldown, ability, and stamina cost of using Wing Beat

Tips:

-It costs stamina to take off from the water, so make sure you have enough! This can be made less costly with the Improved Takeoff talent.

-You can grab creatures and items of fairly large size when flying- use this to your advantage! You’re better at this than ptera, so you can grab smaller pterosaurs out of the sky if they’re of the right size.

-If a Pterandon attacks, you don’t need to chase them, let them come to you. If a flock descends on you however, then you might have an issue!

-You turn pretty slowly in the air. Be sure to always angle yourself towards incoming Pteranodon to use Wing Beat.

-It takes a little while to begin diving, bear this in mind when trying to evade.

Trivia

-Tropeognathus was originally going to be 150% as big, with a 12 meter wingspan!

-The Strong Bond talent was inspired by mated albatross pairs.

-Tropeognathus can carry two creatures at once.
