Oops, something's missing!
It looks like this page is missing something - or maybe a lot of things! Beasts of Bermuda, despite its recent player increase, has had a very loyal following that didn't require a Wiki for the most part because of how tight-knit its community is. This means this Wiki has gone unmaned for a while now! Fear not, however, for there are still many resources out there while we try to update this site, such as our New Player Guide or the Official Discord Server. See you out there on the islands!

This article is a heavy WIP. All of the following information is the bare minimum and has not yet been formatted properly. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Plaeophis is a playable aquatic snake. It boasts 3 sub-species, all of which have access to slightly different talents and playstyles. They include:

  • Aquatic - the largest of the 3 sub-species, which is slow on land but fast in water; instead of Water, it requires Oxygen like all other Aquatics. It can dart underwater but not Coil on land
  • Semi-Aquatic - a sub-species that lives both in water and on land, having the normal, land-based Oxygen meter; It can both Coil and Dart, but is generally worse at both than the other 2
  • Land/Terra - a fully terrestrial species; it swims very slowly compared to the other and cannot Dart, but can Coil, which grants it damage reduction

The sub-species capable of Coiling can also spit their Venom while coiled. This lands Flyers and makes it difficult to see, similar to Ory's sand attack.

All sub-species are capable of Shedding by sitting down and pressing Z, which removes all bleed at the cost of AP. They are also all capable of regurgitating Food, which increases their Frenzy stacks, making them go faster. Snakes can gain more Frenzy by attacking an opponent. Palaeophis can additionally climb any trees or terrain in a system (currently) unique to them.

Venom decreases Stamina and AP regeneration. A creature with full food, water, and comfort will be able to ourheal Venom's drain.

Snakes take no Injury damage and are capable of entering Burrows to hunt Oryctodromeus and use the Nest Raider talent.

Palaeophis, from a sneak peek

Previous Information

This information is kept here until further notice so we can archive it if needed.

Palaeophis is the first creature that existed outside the Mesozoic era to be confirmed for Beasts of Bermuda. See here for a full list of confirmed, discussed, and likely creature additions to the game.

This giant sea snake lived in the Cretaceous era and Eocene epoch. Being a sea snake, it was very likely accustomed to living and preying on the creatures of the open ocean. It was a carnivore, and is currently planned to function as a semi-aquatic creature in the game. Its in-game abilities are still being decided upon, but it is a possibility that it features venom. Palaeophis will likely be able to enter the burrows of Oryctodromeus or being able to construct burrows on seabeds. Its main environment will probably be shallow waters, similar to Lurdusaurus. It may have low health and be vulnerable to ambushes by Mosasaurus or Kronosaurus.

This creature is now available to play in June of 2024.

Sneak Peak

March 20, 2023 "The team and I wanted to share a small preview of the Palaeophis. The development teams’s efforts thus far have been focused on how to get the snake to move realistically, which has been presenting some complicated challenges. As of now, the snake is in a mechanic-less, animation-less state (yes that’s right these aren’t slithering animations, they’re physics simulations!) but we couldn’t wait to show how the movement is coming along so far. The snake is still a ways off, but the team is making great progress tackling its unique set of challenges!" -EchoAlien
