All marine reptiles needed to occasionally surface in order to breathe. Aquatic creatures in our game must occasionally breathe in order to survive. They hold no purpose for drinking water given their lives are indeed lived in water, leaving a hole in the mechanics that water and thirst provided towards other creatures. Air fills the gap for aquatic creatures, granting many of the same benefits or drawbacks a well-hydrated or dehydrated terrestrial creature would receive. These benefits and drawbacks are shown below:

  • Having a well-maintained state of hydration will tremendously improve the rate at which a creature recovers lost HP. A state of near dehydration will cause a creature's HP to decay over time rather than heal.
  • Keeping thirst quenched increases the rate at which a player's stamina recharges by 15%, whereas being at or near a state of dehydration will cause a player's stamina to recharge 15% slower.
  • Keeping thirst quenched increases the rate at which a player's ability power recharges by 15%, whereas being at or near a state of dehydration will cause a player's ability power to recharge 15% slower.
  • A well hydrated creature will more rapidly heal from injuries.

Without any other action, an aquatic creature can last a significant amount of time under the water without taking a breath. The rate at which they exhaust their air supply is very small.
