The Apatosaurus is the largest animal in Beasts of Bermuda.  It is a herbivore, surviving solely off the consumption of plants to satiate its hunger.  It has the biggest belly of any animal in the game, being able to survive well over an hour without eating if it needs to.  This big belly, however, is also difficult to fill, and requires consumption of significant amounts of foliage.  The Apatosaurus is the most difficult creature to become overweight.  It can also survive significant amounts of time without water, but when it does drink, it will very rapidly deplete any lake it is drinking from, thus the Apatosaurus can be a very effective animal for deliberately beaching any aquatic creatures taking an ambush position in a lake.  It's size stat is also tremendously large, and it has the highest HP, but it is also the slowest animal in the game.  It is the only animal in the game to possess the ability to destroy and consume class 5 foliage such as large trees.

The Apatosaurus' primary attack is a stomp.  It rears up onto its hind legs momentarily, and then stomps with its front limbs.  If anything is nearby, it will take a very heavy amount of damage.  The only creature capable of surviving this stomp is another Apatosaurus.  This attack, however, also can make you vulnerable as movement is not allowed during the stomp attack.

The Apatosaurus also has a much more potent secondary attack, which is its tail whip attack.  This attack should be the primary means of defense for the Apatosaurus.  The execution of this attack is a bit different than others, as the attack is actually initiated when the Secondary Attack Keybind (Default is Right Mousebutton) is released, rather than when it is pressed.  While the button is held, the Apatosaurus' tail will aim in the direction of the player's camera.  When released, the tail will crack like a whip, dealing lots of damage and applying knockback.  Implementation of this mechanic was not an easy task, and a development blog on the topic was written here.

Unique Abilties: The Apatosaurus possesses the highest weather resistance of any terrestrial creature.  It is also capable of granting some of its weather resistance to nearby herd members, an ability unique to it.The Apatosaurus is also capable of walking backwards, an ability granted solely to it such that it can utilize knockback on its hind legs to avoid a blindspot here where the tail cannot reach.  In order to walk backwards, a player must press and hold the crouch keybind.  This will knockback anything against the hind legs of the Apatosaurus, often into range of its deadly tail.

Other facts: Being a very large creature, the Apatosaurus has little to fear at adult size. Most predators cannot take it on alone, and it is impervious to all but the strongest storms. Indeed, a healthy adult Apatosaurus is a force to be reckoned with and has few predators.

The Apatosaurus is able to defend itself on all sides. It has a powerful stomp attack as well as a tail whip, both of which can prove deadly to even the largest of foes.

The Apatosaurus possesses profound knockback. If anything gets near its feet, they will be kicked quite far. The smaller the victim of its kick, the further it will be punted. The Velociraptor can be punted extremely far, often threatening it with significant fall damage.

Oops, something's missing!
It looks like this page is missing something - or maybe a lot of things! Beasts of Bermuda, despite its recent player increase, has had a very loyal following that didn't require a Wiki for the most part because of how tight-knit its community is. This means this Wiki has gone unmaned for a while now! Fear not, however, for there are still many resources out there while we try to update this site, such as our New Player Guide or the Official Discord Server. See you out there on the islands!

Overview

The Apatosaurus is a playable herbivorous creature in Beasts of Bermuda, as well as the largest playable creature. Being big, however, requires a big appetite, and so the Apatosaurus must consume at a very frequent rate. Fortunately, it's not a picky eater: Its diet consists of almost any kind of plant, and it can even consume trees as an adult. It also must drink copious amounts of water, and this sometimes causes it to sip entire ponds dry!

Thanks to its immense bulk, the Apatosaurus has superb resistance to harsh weather and boasts the highest amount of HP in the game, as well as being able to attack from any angle with incredible knockback and damage, making it very difficult to for any predator to kill. This discourages many predators from attacking it in the first place, letting the Apatosaurus live a generally peaceful and undisturbed adult life... if it can reach adulthood, that is.

Abilities

Unique Attributes: The Apatosaurus can deal knockback to creatures simply by walking into them. Additionally, it can walk backwards by crouching.

Survival Tips

 • Carefully manage your ability power during fights. Enemies will often attempt to waste away the Apatosaurus' ability power by faking an attack.
 • The Apatosaurus' strongest attack is its Neck Swing. It can deal large amounts of damage that can be boosted by both brawler and earthbreaker. However, it may be better to utilise the apatosaurus’ Kick and Tail whip as the Neck Swing locks you into position, open to be attacked. A good combo is to cripple the opposing dinosaur with your Kick and follow up with the Neck Swing as it is unable to escape, or Tail whip to stay safe.
 • Standing in deep water with your body just above the surface is a good defensive position, as it forces opponents to enter the water to attack.

Additional Notes

 • Implementation of the tail-whip mechanic was claimed to be one of the most difficult mechanics to program, second only to Oryctodromeus' burrows.
