The Iththyovenator is a playable creature in Beasts of Bermuda. It is semiaquatic, meaning it can both traverse easily through water and land. As a semiaquatic creature, it harbors many of the traits that a terrestrial animal would, but also is endowed with significantly increased swimming capabilities. It is rather slow on the land, being a bit slower than the Acrocanthosaurus.
The Iththyovenator is a piscivore, and is able to easily catch fish to sustain its hunger.
Its primary attack, both in and out of the water, is a simple bite. It inflicts moderate damage and has a moderately quick attack speed.
Out of the water, its secondary attack is a claw swipe, dealing identical damage to that of its primary attack, but along its claws such that it can more easily hit raptors, or other smaller creatures that are directly in front of and below its jaw.
In the water, its secondary attack becomes a dart. Darting allows the Ichthyovenator significant aquatic mobility in a unique way not granted to the Mosasaurus or Elasmosaurus. It can, for the cost of stamina and ability power, propel itself with a powerful thrust through the water. While darting, its jaw will open, allowing it to more easily catch and consume fish. If fish are successfully caught, the Ichthyovenator will be returned some of the ability power consumed on the use of the dart, allowing it to easily sustain rapid and continuous fishing should it be successful with aim.
While grabbed by a creature such as the Mosasaurus, the Iththyovenator can struggle, evading the jaws of death at the cost of significant ability power, stamina, HP, and infliction of severe injury. The price may be high, but a Mosasaurus can thrash the Ichthyovenator to death in one grab, so any price is better than death. The intent is that a player can use this ability to escape a grab and scamper to shore. If, however, one is caught too far away from the shoreline, the exhausted and injured Ichthyovenator will be caught once again by the Mosasaurus rather easily.
