Exclusive Skins are unique skins that were/are obtainable by the player through special means. Only a limited number of Exclusive Skins are given out to particular players, such as developers and pre-release donors.
Players who do not own Exclusive Skins can still acquire one temporarily through nesting if one or both of their dinosaur’s parents have them (unless the skin is sterile, which means it cannot pass on through nesting). If at least one parent is wearing an exclusive skin, then the offspring has a chance to inherit layers from that skin. The offspring cannot use the skin again if it dies unless it is revived or reincarnated with the skin intact.
As of July 12th, 2024, there are nineteen public Exclusive Skins:
- Glimmer Wiehenvenator (Pre-release donor exclusive)
- Glimmer Acrocanthosaurus (Pre-release donor exclusive)
- Glimmer Mosasaurus (Pre-release donor exclusive)

Pre-release Donor Exclusive Skins
"Glimmer" skins are aptly named after their ability to glow in the dark. Glimmers are no longer obtainable (you had to donate BEFORE the game was released on Steam in order to actually own the skins), and at this time can only be temporarily acquired through being nested by someone who's using the skin.
- The Glimmer Wiehenvenator skin is only available for players who donated for the Mighty Megalosaurus rank, which was $70. It is no longer purchasable.
- The Glimmer Acrocanthosaurus skin is only available for players who donated for the Accredited Acrocanthosaurus rank, which was $120. It is no longer purchasable.
- The Glimmer Mosasaurus skin is only available for players who donated for the Menacing Mosasaurus rank, which was $600. It is no longer purchasable.
- The Glimmer Tyrannosaurus rex skin is only available for players who donated for the Terrifying Tyrannosaurus rank, which was $1,000. It is no longer purchasable.
- The Glimmer Apatosaurus skin is only available for players who donated for the Amazing Apatosaurus rank, which was $2,800. Players who donated for the Amazing Apatosaurus rank not only received the Glimmer Apatosaurus skin, but could request for a creature of their choice to be added to the game.
Event Exclusive Skins
Video Events
Before the developers implemented a way for players to obtain skins through in-game means, they held video contests in the official Discord server. This is how players could obtain exclusive shimmer skins.
- The Phantom Shimmer Pteranodon skin was only available as an event prize for players who participated in the Pteranodon Video Contest which ran from May 30th, 2019 to June 30th, 2019. This makes it the first glowing skin to not be part of a donated rank. Originally, this skin was also named Glimmer, and had a non-glowing variant, though this was scrapped, and it was renamed later to differentiate between event skins and donor-exclusive skins.
- The Magma Shimmer Saichania skin was only available as the event reward for the participants of the Saichania Video Event which ran from December 31st, 2019 to January 31st, 2020.
- The Firefly Shimmer Ichthyovenator skin was only available as the event reward for the participants of the Ichthyovenator Video Event, which ran from June 25th, 2020 to July 25th, 2020.
- The Boa Shimmer Oryctodromeus skin was only available as the event reward for the participants of the Oryctodromeus Video Event, which ran from August 23rd, 2020 to September 23rd, 2020. If any players planning to participate had to evacuate their areas due to Hurricane Laura, they could have made a claim in the Beasts of Bermuda Discord. These players were able to receive one additional month to build an entry and send it in with their Steam ID.
- The Phoenix Shimmer Tropeognathus skin was only available as an event prize for players who participated and won in the Tropeognathus Video Contest which ran from Feburary 21st, 2021 to March 21st, 2021.
In-game Events
As of December of 2022, Beasts of Bermuda has begun implementing in-game events to obtain exclusive skins. See here for more information about these skins and their associated events.
- The seasonal Winter Snowflake Parasaurolophus was obtainable, officially, through growing a Parasaurolophus to 1.32 on any server running the Life Cycle gamemode, however, there were many reported cases where players obtained it through growing any creature to the designated growth. At the time of its release, it was only usable on servers where it was unlocked by the player. This has since been changed, so it is now linked to the user's Steam account and is able to be used on any server. The event ran from December 14th, 2022 to January 1st, 2023.
- The seasonal Spring Guardian Apatosaurus was obtainable, officially, through growing an Apatosaurus to 1.32 on any server running the Life Cycle gamemode. It is linked to the user's Steam account and is able to be used on any server. The event ran from April 5th, 2023 to May 1st, 2023.
- The seasonal Waverider Lurdusaurus was obtainable, officially, through growing a Lurdusaurus to 2.0 on any server running the Life Cycle gamemode. It is linked to the user's Steam account and is able to be used on any server. The event ran from July 6th, 2023 to August 13th, 2023.
Mystery Exclusives
Mystery Exclusives are exclusive skins for which the means of obtainment are not public. It is also unknown if they are still obtainable.
The only Mystery Exclusive in the game is the Sacred Wiehenvenator. The Sacred Wiehenvenator can be described as having markings akin to armor-like plating with a metallic sheen, and is also covered in many glowing runes. Sacred Wiehenvenator has many nicknames, and due to the skin mixing update only passing down certain aspects of skins, many players have assumed that "Armored" and "Rune" Wiehenvenator are different skins. However, in reality, they're just different pieces of the same Sacred skin.
Upcoming Exclusive Skins
In the future, it has been confirmed that more skin events will be held. New Exclusive Skins will be publicly available through in-game events, like with the Winter Snowflake Parasaurolophus. It is most likely the case that video contests will not make a return as a means to earn Exclusive Skins.
Keep your eyes peeled, and be prepared.
